Montana

About two weeks ago, some of our family made a trip to Montana for skiing and reconnecting with friends. We met Jean and Jerry when we moved to Alaska in 1971. They had seven children and we had four. We all lived in a camper park outside of Anchorage because this was the height of the Pipeline and neither family could find a home to accommodate the size of our families.
At that time Debbie, who with her husband and family own the lodge we stayed at, was four years old. Now she is the mother of four beautiful children. The Lodge is called Flint Creek Lodge and is just outside of a delightful little mining town called Philipsburg, just south and east of Missoula.
There were 12 of us there. All of the little kids learned how to ski. The older ones already knew how. Amanda and Shay are Boarders. They tell me they do not ski.
We shared our accomodations with many dead animals. We were able to put this elk to good use.
I went shopping in the lovely town of Philipsburg and bought this great pot. It fits in my new kitchen perfectly.
While the family was skiing, I curled up next to the fire and worked on my socks.
I got this much done on the second sock while we were there. I had made the first in the week prior to our trip.

Finished them after we got back home.

This is the yarn I used. I do not think I will buy it again. It is a bit coarse on my feet. Not soft and cozy like I prefer.

Driving time both ways was about eight hours. Worth it all the way. Everyone is ready to return, maybe in the summer.
