My friend Frizzy

over at Frizzy and the Bird posted a great project that every Pro Life member of the blogging community may want to participate in. It is called the red envelope project. You send an empty red envelope to President O to signify all of the innocents who are lost to abortion.
Go over there and see what she has to say. She also has a link to an earlier post of hers, a powerful testimony of infirtility and adoption.
The website for this project can be found here.
Now, I give you permission to quit reading me, this one time, and click over and read what Frizzy has to say.

96 and Counting

This picture was taken two years ago. The four generations.
Elizabeth in the sweater and hat gramma knit. She wishes it were purple, but I was looking for a more neutral color for it. It is an aran pattern.
Elizabeth and GG today. Elizabeth is wearing the dress I made her. It is a white eyelet trimmed in her favorite color.

We had an unplanned lunch at Red Robin. Here the wait people are singing Happy Birthday to her.

Today is Elizabeth and GG's birthdays. Together they are 96 years old. GG is 88 and Elizabeth is 8.
What a blessing it is to have both of these beautiful people in my life.
My mother is a Saint. Literally. She raised 12 children in very poor circumstances. My father was a very talented man, but had a very bad habit, (drink) that kept us from ever having anything. My mother kept us together and loved each of us for who we were. Happy Birthday Mama, I love you so deeply and am so thankful that you are still in my life. I know our time is growing shorter and I dread the day I have to say a final earthly goodby to you. I look forward to you never being in pain though and I know that the only way that is going to happen is when our Lord takes you to his own.

Elizabeth (#6314) was born on her GG's 80th birthday. She is a beautiful and delightful child. She loves to help her grandma with cleaning when she comes to visit. She is very tender with her younger cousins and loving to everyone she meets. Elizabeth, you are the "Delight of my life" and I am very proud to be your gramma.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TWO OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN MY LIFE

Who really is responsible? Looks like Bush tried to blow the whistle.

My Mother

is much better. Thanks to everyone for prayers. I stayed with her again yesterday. We were able to get her a shower and dressed. She was a bit nervous about me pushing her to the bathroom, but since there were no brothers at home, she had to let me. By the afternoon she was using her walker to get there. She really is a very strong woman and I know she still has a few years left. The Doctor told her last week that her heart was very strong as were all of her other organs. What is knocking her down is the pain in her leg and I am confident that once she has the surgery and is not confined to her recliner she will be much better. She was not as confused as she had been on Monday either. That was really scaring me. She talked nonsense all day long, rarely ever making sense in what she was saying.
I spent most of the day cleaning and doing her laundry. She lives with two of my brothers and I do not think either of them know what a broom is or how to turn on a vaccum. I just managed to touch the surface but at least it is a bit cleaner.
Once again thanks to everyone for their care and prayers. I will post a picture of her on Saturday when I commemerate her 88th birthday.

I receive a publication called Mountain Wings. They are usually fun to read.

MountainWings A MountainWings Moment #9049
Wings Over The Mountains of Life
Results of My Last Year Sitting At The Computer
I must send my thanks to whoever sent me the one about poison in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet towel with every envelope that needs sealing.
Also, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.
I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown) who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time.
I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program.
I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St. Theresa's novena has granted my every wish.
I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers.
I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.
Thanks to you, I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an email to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.
Because of your concern, I no longer drink Coca-Cola because it can remove toilet stains.
I no longer can buy gasoline without taking someone along to watch the car so a serial killer won't crawl into my back seat when I'm pumping gas.
I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr. Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put "Under God" on their cans.
I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer.
And thanks for letting me know I can't boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face, disfiguring me for life.
I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be nicked with a needle infected with AIDS.
I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.
I no longer receive packages from UPS or FedEx since they are actually Al Qaeda in disguise.
I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our American troops or the Salvation Army.
I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore and Uzbekistan.
I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe.
Thanks to you, I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites me.
And thanks to your great advice, I can't ever pick up $5.00 in the parking lot because it probably was placed there by a molester waiting underneath my car to grab my leg.
I can no longer drive my car because I can't buy gas from certain gas companies!
If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00PM this afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump.
I know thiswill occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician... Have a wonderful day....
Oh, by the way.....A South American scientist from Argentina, after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with insufficient brain activity read their email with their hand on the mouse.
Don't bother taking it off now; it's too late.

Yesterday

was a little hard for me. My precious mama, who will be 88, on Saturday, was ill. She was not coherent most of the day. The doctor has started her on a new regime of medicines, cholesterol, and a mild sleep aid with anti depressant. One of them made her very ill. We are thinking it was the cholesterol medicine because the pharmacist said about .o5% of people who take it have a reaction.
Mama lives with my unmarried brother and he monitors and administers her meds. We made the executive decision to take her off of the cholesterol med. She had only been taking it this week. At 88, how long is a little medicine going to prolong her life anyway? We tried to contact her Dr. but she had closed her office in honor of Presidents day. We kept the option open for Kevin to take her to the hospital last night if she continued to deteriorate. She made it through the night and felt much better today. I just checked on her, another brother is staying with her today and he says she is about 100% improved. One of my brothers have to be with her all the time because she needs help with her toilet. She is unable to get to the bathroom alone and none of her daughters are strong enough to help her, especially if she falls.
She is waiting for surgery on her knee as the cartilage is completely gone and she is in extreme pain from that also.
Yesterday, I had to face the fact that my mother is close to the end of her life. It was not as hard when my father passed, and I have to tell you, no matter how old a girl is....she still needs her Mama.
Please pray for her, pray for comfort from the pain and a successful operation in the very near future.

LIES, LIES, LIES, Seven of them in fact..

A backup to the below blog. I actually tried to post this with the blog below, but lost it somehow.

Barack Obama

My good friend Rush Limbaugh was talking about this today, so I had to go check it out. Now I am sharing it with you.

7 BROKEN PROMISES IN RECORD TIME:
1. Make the government open and transparent
2. Make it "impossible" for Congresmen to slip in pork barrel projects.
3. Meetings where laws are written will be more open to the public. (Even Congressional Republicans were shut out!)
4. No more secrecy.
5. Public will have 5 days to look at a bill.
6. You will know what is in it.
7. We will put every pork barrel project on line.

Funny, but not one of the President's promises were met with the most expensive spending bill in our nation's history.
Thanks for the heads up, Rush.

Two Birthdays

Gramma almost blew it. There were two birthdays this week and I let one go by unacknowledged.
On February 10th Brystan Wesley (2310) turned 12 years old. Gramma is so sorry I forgot to highlight you darling.
I am also sorry I could not find a picture that was not so fuzzy. Bry is one of the most gentle kind young men I know. When he goes out to play with his cousin and his little girl cousin wants to tag along, he takes her under his wing and lets her do everything they do. Climb trees, slide down muddy banks, ride bikes. He is there with her and protects her from any harm. He never tells her no, he adjusts their play to include her. That is the way he is. Kind, gentle, protective and loves to laugh. Gramma loves you the Most Bry. You make me proud all of the time.

Today, Benjamin David (5114) is nine. You have never in you life met a more energetic lively and dramatic boy than Ben. His mother made the wise decision to enroll him in Christian Childrens Theater this spring. Gramma is waiting for him to soar to great new heights. He will command any performance he is in. Good or bad, that is just the way it is. Ben is good at getting in and taking over. He wants to organize everything and he is good at it.
He is also a fabulous cook. Ben lives further away from me than some of the others so I do not see him as often as I would like. He does come and spend a week with gramma and papa during the summer to go to VBS. It is a week we all look forward to. Cousins and gramma and papa. Always remember Ben, Gramma loves you the Most.
Happy Birthday to both of you. You are true gifts to this family sent to us from God.

Jesse, Look at this quiz Gramma took

Are You Messy?
You Are Not Messy
You're so clean, people have accused you of being a clean freak!

You like things tidy, organized, and smelling fresh.

Messes drive you crazy, especially when you didn't make them.

It's hard for you to live with a slob - or someone who leaves their dishes in the sink.

An anology a friend sent me.

It is to good not to share.

This is the best analogy I have heard yet! Ice Cream & The Election Excellent analogy! ......................................................................
From a teacher in the Nashville area.
Who worries about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream?
The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president.
We would choose our nominees.
They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections.
Both candidates were good kids.
I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.
I had never seen Olivia's mother.
The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place.
He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."
She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."
She surely could say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed.
How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?
She wasn't sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it?
She didn't know.
The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten.
Olivia won by a landslide.
Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and
fifty-two percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.
They want ice cream.
The other forty-eight percent of us know we're going to have to feed the
cow and clean up the mess.

Montana

About two weeks ago, some of our family made a trip to Montana for skiing and reconnecting with friends. We met Jean and Jerry when we moved to Alaska in 1971. They had seven children and we had four. We all lived in a camper park outside of Anchorage because this was the height of the Pipeline and neither family could find a home to accommodate the size of our families.
At that time Debbie, who with her husband and family own the lodge we stayed at, was four years old. Now she is the mother of four beautiful children. The Lodge is called Flint Creek Lodge and is just outside of a delightful little mining town called Philipsburg, just south and east of Missoula.
There were 12 of us there. All of the little kids learned how to ski. The older ones already knew how. Amanda and Shay are Boarders. They tell me they do not ski.
We shared our accomodations with many dead animals. We were able to put this elk to good use.
I went shopping in the lovely town of Philipsburg and bought this great pot. It fits in my new kitchen perfectly.
While the family was skiing, I curled up next to the fire and worked on my socks.
I got this much done on the second sock while we were there. I had made the first in the week prior to our trip.

Finished them after we got back home.

This is the yarn I used. I do not think I will buy it again. It is a bit coarse on my feet. Not soft and cozy like I prefer.

Driving time both ways was about eight hours. Worth it all the way. Everyone is ready to return, maybe in the summer.

While Blog Surfing

just before Christmas, I discovered this blog. Cristie is a fairly new blogger. She has been on since November 2008. While I was looking through her blog, I began to recognize landmarks in the pictures she posted. Naturally, I sent her an e-mail saying I thought we were neighbors. Sure enough, we live only 2 miles at the most from one another.
We have talked on the phone a couple of times, but have not met yet. We have discovered we have some acquaintances in common also. Our town is very small.
So now, Cristie, I am planning a Luncheon on March 6th at 11:00 A.M. I would love for you to be the guest of honor. I am inviting another friend, and my daughter who is your age. We had a luncheon last week and decided to make it an annual occasion. Hope you will be able to join us.
Everyone else, I wish you lived close enough that we could have a huge party, but since we do not, how about you all go over and give Cristie a great big blogger's welcome. Make her feel real welcome to this world.

I do not know if it writers block

or if I am just to spread out, but I have not been able to share much with you the past week.
But I do have this to share with you from Saturday.
If you were a four year old boy (#6518) and you found this paddle with suction cups on it,
And you discovered that it sticks if you slapped it down on the seat of a toilet.
What would you think it was?

Well, if you guessed it was a toilet opener, you were right!!!

I almost missed it

TODAY IS LIZZIES BIRTHDAY!!
Happy birthday to Lizzie, one of the funniest bloggers in blogger world. She is also very caring and compassionate, except when it comes to mothers and blogs. But other than that she is the BEST and I hope she has the happiest of birthdays ever. Also hope the Honda was in her parking space with a big red bow on it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZZIE
YOU ARE A WONDERFUL FRIEND.
BE SURE TO GO GIVE HER BIG BIRTHDAY WISHES IF YOU HAVEN'T

Are we happy yet?

Todays news says "O" has capped CEO salaries. Yes for all of you who have class envy that is a good thing. Yes he has done it only to those businesses who have accepted the "bailout." I agree if you cannot pay your employees, maybe you should take a pay cut. But let us look a little deeper. We are marching down the road to Socialism. Pure and simple.
so·cial·ism
Pronunciation:
\ˈsō-shə-ˌli-zəm\
Function:
noun
1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

If government would excuse themselves from the private sector, it would adjust itself. If a few businesses went belly up, others would step in and fill the void. The ones who prevail will be the ones who of their own accord tighten their belts and make concessions for the good of their company. It is called Capitalism.

cap·i·tal·ism
Pronunciation:
\ˈka-pə-tə-ˌliz-əm, ˈkap-tə-, British also kə-ˈpi-tə-\
Function:
noun: an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market
For everyone who wants to give him a chance. I can only say, Germany gave Hitler a chance also. How far do you want to go?

Happy Birthday To You

Happy Birthday

Dear Tricia

Birthday

To You!!!

GREAT NEWS!

HE WITHDREW HIS NOMINATION.
See below post.

Monday, February 2, 2009

Senator Daschle is

'deeply' embarrassed by his tax mistake. Someone give me a bucket, I AM GOING TO BARF!!

Did not pay taxes for private use of a car and driver with a worth of up to $128,000. $100,000 in payoffs from the health industry. And this man is nominated to be our next Health and Human Services Director.

Good job "O" you are certainly cleaning up the corruption in Washington. Are they all going into your cabinet so you can keep a closer eye on them and see to it that they do the right thing? You have to wonder.
