Stan does not like my Columbine. He calls them weeds. They are prolific, but they are also so pretty.

He also brought my fountain out today and put it in the corner behind the swing. We had to fix some cracks in it so I am waiting a couple of days before I fill it.
The Iris's in my yard were given to me by a neighbors mother who has an Iris farm in California. They did not bloom last year so this is the first I have seen them.
Darius calls the Hummingbird a Honeybird. I had to wait patiently to catch this photo.
Another of my favorite flower is the Geranium. I have several throughout the yard. Mostly in my hanging baskets. I think there is a nest of wasps in the bird house. There were several flying in and out of it today.

I went to the store again and bought more flowers for my baskets. I think I have two more baskets to fill, unless I go ahead and hang baskets on the outside of my fence also. I have been wanting to do that for the past couple of years.

I also bought some Basil and Oregano that I planted in pots. Because of the size of my yard I use lots of pots.

Easy peasy

So the story behind this photo: This picture is of Abigail (#6415), on the left and Elizabeth (#6314) on the right. This picture was taken last July, along the California coast. I do not remember exactly where we were, we had just stopped for a rest and to get out of the car for a while.

As many of you know, I take my grands to Disney Land for their 7th or 8th birthday. Sometimes one has to wait for another, as was the case in Elizabeth waiting for Abby to be old enough to go.

We were in Los Angeles during all of the Michael Jackson hulabaloo and were attempting to leave the city on the day of his memorial. I-5 North was closed and we had to go south and catch the highway over to the coast and then travel up 1 and 101for several miles. Even though it was way way out of our way, and we were tired and had to drive through three states to get home, this was a beautiful drive. You can see how both of the girls were enjoying the water as gramma sat on the beach and watched and took dozens of pictures. In the background is an oil rig. I did not know there were so many out there. The drawback of this beach was that there was lots of oil in the water that we were not aware of until the girls got out and we had to wash it off of their bodies and out of their suits. Fortunately there were showers on the beach for just that reason.

I LOVE SPRING!!

Why? You ask. It is the time the earth warms back up. It is a time of New Life, my garden comes alive! Today was no exception. The above picture is of my tiny back yard. Even though it is small, I absolutely love it.
When I went out this morning I discovered one of my Clematis was in bloom. This flower was above my head, so I had to stand on my tip toes on the rocks that outline the flower bed and reach above the flower to take this picture.

I also discovered my first Iris in bloom. I love these flowers. Outside though. I learned the hard way not to bring them inside because they weep.
Another shot of my fence and my Wisteria. I fell in love with this plant when Stan and I lived in Georgia. It was amazing to see them growing wild and climbing the trees. I absolutely had to have one when I got back up here. I did however, leave the Kudzu to Georgia. Also shows my baskets that I hung up today. Can hardly wait for them to mature completely and fill my yard with their fragrance.
This morning Stan took me for a ride up Highway 9. He had something he wanted to show me.

When we got out of the car, these pretty little Bleeding Hearts were right under my feet. They are so delicate. I remember them growing in our woods when I was a child.
What he wanted to show me was this waterfall. If you look closely on the left side of the picture, between the trees,you can make out the water cascading down the rock face. I could not get closer to the falls because I had flip flops on. Not conducive to walking in the woods. Will have to put my tennis shoes on next time he suggests we go for a ride.

Sunset Wednesday Night

I took these pictures last night from my front room window. Looking west over the tops of my neighbors homes. Some night I am going to go sit on the beach and just wait for the sun to set.

Never seem to do it though because it it about a 30 mile round trip. From what I can see at my house though, I am convinced it would be worth the trip.

Knitting

A little of what I have been working on in the past couple of weeks. In an earlier post I said I had found an amazing designer on Ravelry. I have since purchased three of her patterns. The long pants here are all made from her pattern. She has also graciously given me permission to sell my knits, using her design for my Church Project. I am furiously knitting, trying to stock pile so that I will have them for the Christmas Bazaar season. All are made from 100% wool. Some machine washable and some not. All are hand washable. I made the hat and pants above, with the idea of them being purchased as a set. I will also be willing to sell them separately.
This little skirt and soaker is made from the same designer. I love the knit lace finish to the bottom of the skirt.

What I love especially about her long pant pattern is the gusset in the crotch. It works in very nicely and lies a bit flatter than the first pants I made. The two top pair are from a wool I found in my local yarn shop. The bottom brown pair is from yarn donated to me by my friend Debbie.


I absolutely love this skirt. It looks like a little cheer leaders skirt. It did take more yarn than the previous two skirts I have made, so I will be asking a little more for it than the others.

Being made of wool, all of these items can be worn over a cloth diaper without rubber pants. The wool wicks the wet away from the babies body, yet does not get soaking wet on the outside. This is all my mother used when we were babies. They called them soakers at the time.

Once again, remember all of my knit profit goes to help build my friends church in Dar es Salaam.

I am making slow progress, but I am making progress and pray for much more once the bazaar season arrives.

Right now I am asking God to not let my interest wane and to just keep me knitting.

I do love seeing the finished project, for sure.

On my needles right now is a sweater called the Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman.

It is quite involved and I will be asking at least $40.00 for it once it is finished. I will post it as soon as I am done.

I almost let them slip by.....April Birthdays

Oops, I loaded them backwards:) Not going to take the time to change them either so in order of last to first, or first to last if you are talking age, above is Amanda Shaylene (3101) See her birth order? She is our third child's first child and our FIRST GRANDCHILD!! The one who started all of this. On April 21 this darling granddaughter of mine turned 20:) She is currently studying to be a Hairdresser. She was taking a test on this day, and I might add she got a 96%, counted down for time. I tried to tell her instructor she was slow because I kept stopping her for pictures. Didn't seem to matter. Well, in this gramma's book, she got 100%
Alysa Louise is my April Fools baby. We really had our hearts set on a baby boy. ( We like her though) When I got the call, at work, that she had been born, I beat feet up to the hospital as fast as I could to take a peek, I was sure they were fooling me. Sure enough it, she, was a girl.

Her grandchild number is 1307. Happy 16th birthday to you again Alysa.
