Therese at The Musings of a Mom nominated me several days ago for this award. Thank you Therese for thinking of me. It took me a few days to post it over because I am not very compter literate and had to wait until I was visiting my daughter Tricia at It's my Crazy Live and I Love it for help in getting it all transferred. Now I get to pass it onto 5 people that I think are worthy.

Here are the rules:If you already have the award just accept and that's all you have to do.
1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award.
4. The award winner and one who has given the prize have to show the link "Arte y Pico" blog so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5. Show these rules.
So now I nominate:
Gina @ A handful of Life.
Jennifer @ Pautlitz Family
Sorry, I do not know three other people who may play. Hope you two can do better than I did.

Independence Day

Since I will not be home tomorrow to wish all of you a good day tomorrow I thought I would do it now.

Please take a moment to remember our service men and women and the sacrifice they and their spouses make for our country.

I want to share a few picture with you for tomorrow. When I received them, they made a real impact on me.

This is called: PROOF OF ABUSE BY OUR TROOPS

Armed American troops force Iraqis to teeter-totter until they talk.

Iraqis grateful Americans did not open fire during soccer game.Clear evidence of forced labor by troops.GI falls asleep on duty while using Iraqi child as body armor

Soldier attempts to eat Iraqi Child.Iraqi child bites soldier in self defense.Talk or I will tickle you until you do. More evidence of our Failed US Policy.

Tickle torture to extract intelligence.Soldier forces Iraqi child to hang by fingertips.Needs no words.Never take our freedom for granted.

Happy Birthday Brandon

Today is Brandon's 16th birthday. Happy Birthday Brandon Michael(#4104)!! I always tell him he should either strive to be President or at the very least an attorney. He has the gift of argument. I bet none of you knew that was a gift, did you? He always has the last word in any discussion. Brandon has grown up in the country. Lucky boy. He is an expert marksman and a great fisherman. He is a wrestler and football player at his school. He is one of the smartest boys I know. I know I know you just think it is grandma talking again, but he really is! This coming school year Brandon will enter the 11th grade in school, but he will also begin a program, (in our area we call it Running Start) that allows him to begin accumulating college credits. I am not sure what they are calling it at his school or what your area calls it, but I think it is a great program for kids who bore easily with the watered down curriculum offered in public school today. Great Job Brandon and Happy Birthday, my one and only red headed grandchild.

OK it is official

I am hooked. Who else would stop cleaning the kitchen, grab her camera, take the picture and rush downstairs to download one picture just so she could show the world?

I love you too Libby Lu

Kathi at Feathering my Nest has tagged me to post 6 unimportant things about myself.
First I must post the rules, so here goes:
1. Link back to the person who who tagged you.
2. Post rules on your blog.
3. Share 6 unimportant things about yourself
4. Tag other bloggers to participate.

1. No one has ever mistaken me for Twiggy. One time, a long time ago, someone thought I was Haley Mills though. Seriously, it took me a while to convince them I wasn't. It wasn't a lecherous old man either, it was a group of teen girls.
2. I hate my feet. I shouldn't though. They have been good to me for 62 years. In fact I think I might pamper them this year and give them a real pedicure for their 62nd birthday.

3. I wish was shopping for these

instead of these

4. In the same vein, I wish the girls (the girls, not my daughters)could wear these

instead of these

5. This is my favorite place in the world to go play. I already have hotel reservations for the summer of 09. We will be there for the 4th of July. A first. I hope it is not too hot. We will be able to see the fireworks from our hotel room, so the crowd will not be too bad.

6. I am happiest when I am with my family.

So now I am going to tag;
Tausha @The Hoyt's House
Tricia @ It's my Crazy Life and I love it
Karen @ Harried Mommy
Andreena @ Cookies Tidbits
Therese@ The Musings of a Mom

So come on girls, play along. I do not know enough of you yet to tag you. In fact a couple of you I just read every day. I do not even know if you have visited me yet.

Miss Elizabeth Iuliana

spent a couple of days with me this week. While she was here we finished a project we started a few weeks ago. She actually did much of the sewing herself. She was very independent about it. If I tried to take over, she was very insulted. I did do the elastic work and the hemming on the bottom of the skirt and shorts. It is actually a skort. She is so proud of herself. Can't you just see it!
In the numbering system, Elizabeth or Libby as much of the family calls her is #6314 (Our 6th child's third child and our 14th grand). She is eight years old, and will be entering the third grade in the fall. Libby has the sweetest spirit. She is the most patient of all of the children. If she is told no she will usually accept it. If she doesn't, you do not find her in the middle of the floor throwing a tantrum, you will most likely find her off alone crying. She is not one to cause a scene. She is very kind to all of the smaller children in the family. She mothers everyone of them. She is my delight. To have her spend a day with me is to make even a cloudy Pacific Northwest day a sunny one. You can also read about Miss Libby on A Handful of Life. Go there if you haven't been. You will love meeting Gina and her family. She is listed in my friends on the side bar.
