Yesterday

was a little hard for me. My precious mama, who will be 88, on Saturday, was ill. She was not coherent most of the day. The doctor has started her on a new regime of medicines, cholesterol, and a mild sleep aid with anti depressant. One of them made her very ill. We are thinking it was the cholesterol medicine because the pharmacist said about .o5% of people who take it have a reaction.
Mama lives with my unmarried brother and he monitors and administers her meds. We made the executive decision to take her off of the cholesterol med. She had only been taking it this week. At 88, how long is a little medicine going to prolong her life anyway? We tried to contact her Dr. but she had closed her office in honor of Presidents day. We kept the option open for Kevin to take her to the hospital last night if she continued to deteriorate. She made it through the night and felt much better today. I just checked on her, another brother is staying with her today and he says she is about 100% improved. One of my brothers have to be with her all the time because she needs help with her toilet. She is unable to get to the bathroom alone and none of her daughters are strong enough to help her, especially if she falls.
She is waiting for surgery on her knee as the cartilage is completely gone and she is in extreme pain from that also.
Yesterday, I had to face the fact that my mother is close to the end of her life. It was not as hard when my father passed, and I have to tell you, no matter how old a girl is....she still needs her Mama.
Please pray for her, pray for comfort from the pain and a successful operation in the very near future.

You and your mum and family have my prayers.

I was just telling my kids the other day (when they were complaining about moving all the time with dad in the Navy) that it was and is hard on me, too. I married my hubs four months after we met - he moved me away from my family and all I'd ever known, clear across from WA to VA. In a few short weeks of arriving VA, he left me alone for a six week drop operation. Fun! NOT!! I cried like a baby. I still cry like a baby on the inside for those things a girl needs and can only get from her momma. I so get this post!!

Mother did much better today. I talked to her at about six P.M. Pacific time, her voice was back to normal and she was coherent.

The hard prayer that I prayed last night with Libby was that GG would be healthy and comfortable. Either with us or with Jesus.

Because, for those who don't know, Libby was an 80th birthday present for GG and the 2 share a special bond. Otherwise I would have left that news for later. Much later.
