Shay was born with a birth defect that I cannot even begin to spell so I won't try cause I would probably steer you to another place of the body, but when she was born, she was not able to breath. She did not have nasal passages inside her nose. She was rushed to Children's Hospital in Seattle where they did surgery and put tubes into her nose to keep it open while it healed. When she got older and began to lose her baby teeth, there was not enough room for her permanent ones. We found out that part of the birth defect sometimes affected the mouth and she was one of the sometimes. She had to have several permanent teeth as well as baby teeth pulled to make room for the ones she would be able to keep. She also had to have the roof of her mouth split to reshape the inside. This is a very well deserved smile and I am proud of my Baby..........Good Job Peanut!!!

Wow, that sounds so painful! But its done! Beautiful smile, be sure and share it often!
beautiful girl, gramma. Definately a rich and deep gene pool your family has going.
Keep smiling girl, you have earned it.
Sorry to put this on here, but it makes you wonder what Rahm's brother in the Administration would have offered one such as her as far as his healthcare policies are concerned.
Tell her she looks gorgeous. That must have been tough, but look at those results!!!
She looks mahvelous. And she has every right to share it and brag about it..she's earned it! One of those things that most of us have and didn't have to earn and so we don't appreciate it as much.
Greywolfe, my friend, Rahm would have let an otherwise healthy baby die. I would have been to expensive on several fronts. Rushing her to Seattle and the actual surgery. I hope others who read my blog and comments see the parallel you drew here.
She's beautiful!
what a beauty!
Beautiful granddaughter you have there. Sorry she has had to go through so much.
She looks like a sweet girl. Enjoy her every minute. I do mine.

Looks like Shay will get to hand the moniker "Railroad Tracks" down to Jesse. We went to a consult today and he said earlier is easier than later to move the teeth. 2 years of braces at about $5000, and then a 3 year break with a retainer, then we start thinking about the implants. I hope he has a good job in 5 years....
Thanks grandma :)
auntie gina its so worth it for him to get braces. and if he wears his rubber bands he will get them off sooner :)
OUCH! That sounds painful in so many ways. What a beautiful girl and smile. She's so brave!
Glad she looks so good, but here (uk) her family wouldnt have had to pay directly for treatment, NHS would have covered everything Google Rev J Jepson an NHS success story and anti-abortion campaigner!
