After we left San Francisco, we caught Highway 1 in Monterey. I had been down it years ago, but did not remember what a twisty windy road it was. It is full of drop offs and hairpin turns. Breathtaking and beautiful as well as frightening. Sometimes compounded by some woman who crept down the road at 25mph and all but stopped to inch her way around the curves in the road. After following her for a good half hour with no safe opportunity to pass her, she must have finally looked in her rearview mirror and saw the line of cars behind her because she finally inched her way into one of the pull outs along the road.
The Elephant Seals were some of the most grotesque animals I have ever laid eyes on. They stank too.
Shortly after this, we headed east and caught 101 so we could travel a little faster. What we saw on 1 was amazing and beautiful though. We arrived in Anaheim that evening at about nine P.M. It was shower and straight to bed sw we could rise bright and early to visit the Happiest Place on Earth in the morning.

Ahh, beautiful pictures!
Worse than that!! G.
Your pictures bring back memories! My family was stationed at Fort Ord when I was a kid. I think we have the same picture of the seals, but from the late 1970's! Have a great day today!
Fantastic pictures - I am so envious, we haven't done that since I was in 7th grade.
