Gov. Gregoire

Washington State, may have gotten something right. Time will tell just where her priorities are, but right now she says she is going to call for an investigation into DSHS and their handling of the POCA case.

Continue to pray for her, and if anyone is so inclined, there is a fund at Washington Mutual under the name of Amy Langley. Money raised will help them save their home which is currently in foreclosure and be used for legal expenses.

This is just one more example of government bureaucracy run amok.

Talk about a family being refined by fire. UGH! My heart cries out for them and all they are going through. This is such a difficult thing to wrap my brain around.

I look at you a parent who has to go through so much to have a child and then see so many like Poca who are throw away children. The system does not even save or protect them. We have had so many instances of children in Washington who have been reunited with their birth family and die within the first year they aer back home.
Seeing that this birth mother has already had one or two children die while in her custody, does it not give you pause to wonder why DSHS is so anxious to return Poca to them?
You are true testimony to the statement that DNA does not a parent make.

My mom hasn't said it here- maybe it makes her too sad. We had a young friend who was pregnant. She was going to let my parents adopt her baby, but late in her pregnancy she changed her mind. She kept her baby and her family moved to Washington state when we did. The young friend was not stable and was not prepared to be a mother, but DSHS allowed her(a minor) and her baby to leave her mother's protective custody. DSHS also set this minor and her child up in her own apartment. The end of a long story of neglect on DSHS's part is that my friend and my baby sister died. The young mother was executed over a bad drug deal, and the baby was left in her crib in a room with a broken window- IN JANUARY!
DSHS indirectly killed them both.

Sitting here in tears. Have been formulating a blog to explain my vehement reaction to this situation. Just have not been able to.
Alecia would be 16 years old this month.

I saw the article about Gregoire in the newspaper--I hope she follows through, but nothing ever happens quickly in gov't bureaucracy!

I have a friend who is an excellent Mother, but she had to flee Washington state for a time about 10 years ago--because DSHS was threatening to take away her daughter. Long story--won't go into it here.

Not sure if any one remembers the 4 year old boy from last years news who was recently awarded $6M settlement from DSHS (paying $5M). This little boy was starving to death by his own father. For many months, complaints came in about this boy and older brother were being abused by their father and case by case it was dropped. Different social workers visited the family and took the fathers word that nothing was going on and then when one social worker documented that the older brother had bruising on both sides of his head the father sent the older boy to live in Cali. And again the young boy was overlooked. You would think after having to pay $5M dollars because your department was wrong, you would do things differently. Our DSHS here is so CORRUPT it needs to be highlighted what they are. It’s just sad that at the expense of this little girl, it has to be seen. Our system cares nothing about the abused and its time somebody does. I am writing all the necessary letters and praying for this little girl. The birth parents are still trying to fight for this little girl, but if they really cared for her they would realize that little Poca is better off w/the family that has been there for her in her greatest time of need. I have read all I could on this subject and trying not to just go by what someone else’s thoughts are, I do know that little Poca should be returned to her Foster parents.

I hope this little girl will be able to come home soon. Bureaucracy is merciless and most of those people-cogs are without reason or kindness . But they will fight anyone who threatens them.
