I found these statistics quite interesting.

The Richest 1%
If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, the world would look something like the following:
There would be:
57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western hemisphere, both north and south
8 Africans
52 would be female
48 would be male
70 would be non-white
30 would be white
70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian
89 would be heterosexual
11 would be homosexual
6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth
All 6 would be from the United States.
80 would live in substandard housing
70 would be unable to read
50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would be near death;
1 would be near birth
1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education
1 would own a computer
You own a computer or at the very least have consistent access to one.
You are among the world's wealthiest 1%
With all of the bills and the stress, life doesn't feel that way does it?
Maybe that's just because you don't know how blessed you are.Wake Up!

Great post. It's always interesting to see things put in persepctive like this. I have always been suspicious of these homosexual numbers though.

When we see the statistics in that perspective, it behooves us who have more than we need to care for those in our 'world- family' who don't have enough!

Thank you. I have been feeling sorry for myself for the last few hours. Needed a dose of reality. Now I just have to block out the noise.

God is good! I am blessed and it's ALWAYS good to be reminded of how blessed I am. Happy Memorial Day to you and your family.

I've heard these numbers before (or something like it), and it's very sobering. It's difficult to remember sometimes just how incredibly fortunate we are!
