An Interview with Ren

of The Land of Ren. Ren was being interviewed by Karla from Zander and Me. When she said she would interview anyone who wished to be interviewed, I jumped right in.
Here are the questions Ren asked me and my answers.
1. I see on your blog that you have many children and grandchildren. I love your numbering system. I've always been curious, How big is your family?
Ren, I come from a huge family. My parents had 12 children. I am the third.
My mother has over 100 direct descendants.
Stan and I have 6 children. One son and five daughters. We have 19 grandchildren. Counting our in-law children our family now numbers 33. Our numbering system began as a game, but now all of the kids who are old enough use it. It works this way. The first number is the birth order of the parent. The second is the birth order of the child in his/her family and the last two are the grandchild order. So #4113 is our fourth child's first child and our thirteenth grandchild.

2. Of all the jobs you have had what is your most memorable and why?
I never was career minded. My favorite thing to do was stay at home and raise my children. I have worked though. I have worked in banks.(hated it) Fabric stores. (brought my paycheck home in a bag) For a church in Georgia. (did clerical and substitute taught in their small school) I think my favorite was when I had a very small custom sewing business making children's wear. I had great fun with it.
.
3. You recently took a journey to Africa. Why did you go? What was the best and worst moments while you were there?
I have been meeting in prayer with my refugee friends for over eight years. We pray for Africa and the people of that continent. Especially those of war torn Zaire or The Democratic Republic of Congo. Over seven million people have been murdered in Congo in the past 12 years. In perspective that is more than those who lost their lives during the Holocaust. The people of the Congo feel totally forgotten. They know that people hear about Burundi and Darfur. They know that famous people visit there but no one comes to them. We went to tell them they are not forgotten and to see if we can do anything to help. We have a few projects in the thought process right now.

4. You did a lot of knitting over the holidays. Do you do any other crafty things? Do you have any upcoming projects you are excited about?
I love to sew. I truly enjoy making little people clothes. I do counted cross stitch and have done a little quilting. I have a quilt top waiting for me to get brave enough to start it. It is very involved and I am a perfectionist and do not want to start it until I am sure I can do it right.
I also like to move walls. My husband has the worst time with that. I have been known to knock a whole wall out while he was at work. Wanted it moved and that was the only way to get it done. Have not done that for a while, but I do still like to change my house. Currently we are working on our kitchen. Am almost ready to post some update pictures of it.

5. Do you have a favorite time of year?
Holiday wise, it is Christmas. I always say you cannot have Easter if you do not have Christmas. Without Easter, there is no salvation. I am big on salvation:) I also love having my family around during the holidays.
Season wise, I love Summer. I hate it when fall rolls around because I know I will have to endure another cold wet winter. If I could live in a hot dry climate year round, I would be in hog heaven.

Now I would love to interview you and you and you. So here is what you do. Come on now, don't be shy. I will be nice I promise. It is a great way to get to know you.
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the questions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
So come on, let the good times roll!!

Ugh, I missed the cut off! If you're willing to slip me in, I'd love it, but if you're overwhelmed, I understand, too.

Took me a while but I figured out that there is not a 4113. I should have caught it sooner!

Hey Kris, you are right. Should have been 5113. I thought something was wrong with that one. Oh well, it still explained the system.
