Christmas 2008
I know for most of you Christmas is over. Our family, however, celebrated on New Years day. The above pictures are some of what I was working on so furiously for the past month. Some, like the socks were works in process. I finished and kept them. I do have a grandson who would love his gramma to make him a pair though. The scarves I have been working on during the year. They are a great way to use up yarn that is left from other projects. The hats and mittens I made just before Christmas. Was so happy to have all finished and am now looking for new projects to start.
Actually, my granddaughter Shay gave me a gift certificate to a local Quilt shop so I combined it with an additional $30.00 for fabric to make a quilt. It will be a long project, as I progress I will try to share it with you. I am sure it will take a good part of the year to do. There is always something that needs knit also. Olivia wants me to knit her a skirt and tank top. I am wondering how a four year old becomes so opinionated about her clothes. I bought the yarn to make her a sweater, but she does not want one.

Very pretty items, Evy! You know it is so very cold here! ;)
Very nice !!!
I knit as well, mainly jerseys (sweaters), cardigans, baby clothes, hats and scarves. Haven't tried socks yet. Those ones you made, look super comfortable. Must try making a pair.
Socks have always intimidated me a bit ... which is quite funny, since I do Fair Isle patterns, etc...
What great gifts! Plus, you'll be keeping your loved ones warm from afar. What a blessing!
ok, you're kidding me, right? Those are just gorgeous! Have I ever told you about the time I entered into a knitting club with the intent of a) learning to knit and b) making my twins these gorgeous sweaters that my acquaintance/knitting teacher made all the new (employees') babies at the children's hospital where I worked...
Anyway, I was a pro while I sat, overdue belly growing by the minute in her home. And each week as soon as I returned to my own home - GIGANTIC KNOTS OF HORRENDOUS PROPORTIONS as soon as I sat my big butt down.
Needless to say, Sheila finished the sweaters for me. But there's ONE panel (VERY small) on the back of Pookie's that is mine - all mine.
Pass down you art, Dear. Please pass it on.
Mmmmmm they are gorgeous! I'd like one of each, please! :-)
I want to knit some socks this year! I have one ready to turn the heel. You accomplished some beautful scarves and hats. And I forgot to mention before that I liked the vest for your grandson. I may copy the idea when mine get a bit older.
The knitting gene completely skipped the next generation, though. I CANNOT knit. No matter how hard I try.
