Stan and I have known for years that he has

multiple food allergies. We have eliminated so many foods on our own. However, this summer he just seemed to be sick after every meal. He finally had allergy tests run. The results surprised us in some aspects and were what we already knew in other. The surprises?
Who do you know who is allergic to:
Carrots
Peaches
Pears
Asparagus
Mushrooms
Lamb
almost all seafood, including crab, lobster, oysters, salmon, red snapper, clams and shrimp.
Almonds
Barley
Buckwheat
Corn
Pecans
Peanuts
Sunflower
Whole Wheat
And Rice?
Rice has been a staple in our home for years. After I got home from DC, I went shopping and one of my purchases was a 25# bag of rice. Peaches and pears, his two favorite fruits. Carrots he takes (took) in his lunch almost daily. I just bought a 2# bag of those too. We would have asparagus 2 or 3 times a year so that is not a hard one to eliminate. He will not allow mushrooms to even make it to his plate. No problem there for them either. He has never ever eaten lamb so how does he develop an allergy to it. We do enjoy some seafood, especially salmon, (we do live in the Pacific Northwest) and shrimp.
No surprise:
Beef
Milk
Sugar
Needless to say, meal planning has become even more a challenge.
Other side of the coin? We are still able to plan meals. Thank You Lord!!!

WOW, that is quite an impressive list of allergies. Are some of them less than others or is he just gonna have to eat water the rest of his life?

You and Stan can come over to eat.
Stan and I will have water and broccoli, while you and Steve can eat anything and everything...Then Stan and I will back over you both, with the car:-)

PS - He might seriously think about asking his doctor for an Epi Pen.
Hopefully he will never have to use it, but better to be safe than sorry!

What time is dinner Lib? We are actually thinking about digestive enzymes.

WOW! That is some list! But where there's a will there's a way... and I know that you're just the woman to do it!

I'm with Libby on the epi pen though. It's far better to be safe than sorry! I keep one on hand for the Old Guy and his seafood allergies, but knock on wood, we've never had to use it!
Seafood is my favorite, so I don't even kiss him if I've had any. ;)

Wow! that is a huge list. I have heard of people with similar allergies. Are oats a problem? I know that one person I know of with severe allergies uses oat bread. Praying for both of you!

Therese, we do not have animals and they did not show up on the test so I do not know. I bought potatoe bread this week and it did not seem to bother him.

cow dairy
wheat
oats
rye
barley
corn
chocolate
sugar
eggs
soy
beef
pork
citrus

That's Caleb's list.
I was using Houston Neutraceutical's Peptyzyde and Zyme Pryme- which are by far the best, but they are not readily available. I had to order them online. Also, they do not come packaged in a gelatin cap (which dissolves instantly) so you have to plan to take them about 1/2 hour before you eat- or break them open onto a bite of food.
I have been able to get a good (but not as good) one from the food co-op north of me. I will let you know what that one is when I go pick more up.

Wow Evy,
You might want to shop at the co-op or Whole foods. How about melons?

I love Libby's comments about eating broccoli and water then backing over you all. Who of us hasn't felt that way once or twice after watching someone eat something we love but our bodies won't allow us to do the same.

Let me know if you want me to help you find some recipes. I can't even imagine. I guess eating out is no longer an option. Sheesh even Bocca burgers won't do. Love you.

Bocca burger made him sick the other night!
I think we might go to Trader Joe's today and see if there is anything there we can buy.

if you go to Trader Joes, buy me some of the dried green beans in the 'snack food" aisle. They make me happy!!

I've printed off Stan's list and am going to start now to plan the menu for September 25th!! There are several of us who have eating restrictions, so this is going to be a challenge! :-)
