We made our final camp trip

We left Kigoma at 7AM for a 3 hour drive to Lugufu.  It was pouring rain when we left and by the time we were well on our way, we were in the middle of a thunder and lightening storm.  If you remember how I described the road in my last trip post, now you can add rivers of water pouring down them.  At one point I thought the road was going to wash out.  It did not and we were able to make it home safely.
At the camp, once again we were inundated with stories of sickness, pain, hunger and frustration that I feel so completely powerless to do anything about.  Does anyone have a direct line to Oprah?  She has shown interest in Congo before.  This camp is being closed at the end of this month.  Currently there are over 35,000 people there.  They are being "voluntarily repatriated" back to the Congo.  I do not know if you hear much about it there at home, but Congo is a battlefield.  Just across the border north of here there is so much fighting going on.
A man yesterday shared his story with me.  The short of it is that his mother and father were killed by the rebels.  Some of them being relatives of his.  His father was a preacher and was killed while he was on his circuit.  Not only did they kill him, the fed him to the dogs.  This man is terrified to return to the Congo.  Remember some of the rebels are his relatives and once he crosses the border, they will hunt him and his family down and kill them.  Currently the UN has stepped in in his behalf and he does not have to leave, yet.  There is so much more to his story, but I cannot take the time to write it all down here.  Actually, this man is from the Nyaragusu camp.  He was in town and stopped by to talk to me.  He so badly wants everyone in the US to know how bad things are.
Today, at Lugufu, I met a young man with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  All he needs is some medicine.  Anyone out there that can help?
I always get asked for English Bibles and dictionaries.
Dear people, there is so much suffering.  I do appreciate your prayers and caring responses I receive.
I will be home in one week and one day.  I arrive in Seattle on November 11.
I must tell you also that all of the Missionaries I have met here are praying fervently for the US and the elections.  My prayer is that God hears and answers the way we all want.  Sometimes I think he may allow him to win just to bring America to her knees.  Keep up the prayers and know that He is faithful and just.
Love to everyone of you.
Ev, Evy, Mom, Gramma, Sister, etc.

I am so glad you posted...I was getting worried. We continue to pray for you, and your safe return.

On the election, I am wondering the same thing as you. I pray we are wrong...

You were one of the first people I thought of when I found out who the new president would be. My husband had a mild heart attack two weeks ago and I wouldn't let him watch any coverage so we didn't find out until this morning. I guess at least we were here for this history making event. I have to find something positive.
